Restile 2014: the jury chose the winners
Yesterday, at Mirage Project Point in Milan, the jury of the RESTILE contest has met in order to decide the winner and to prepare the ranking. Given the quality of all the projects submitted the choice has not been easy and the commission took all morning and into lunch to decide. At the end, nevertheless, a decision had to be made. As said, the projects have been evaluated by the criteria of creativity, feasibility and innovation.
Here you are the ranking:
1. Istvan Bojte and Gaia Bottari with the project “Mezzo Tinto”
The commission considered this project as the best interpretation of the three choice criteria, appreciating in particular the superficial materic pattern.
2. Arabella Guidotto with the project “Sfumate Geometrie”
The jury believed this project deserved to be awarded because of the strong relation between the materic and the graphic component, arriving to create a pattern appreciable both to the touch and to the sight.
3. Javier Deferrari and Lavinia Modesti with the project “Versatile”
This Project was remarkable because of the reinterpretation of a classic element in ceramic, the Hexagon, in a contemporary view and for an innovative and “versatile” decoration.
Five honorable mentions:
Daniele Canuti with the project “til3d”
The jury appreciated the reinterpretation of the surface, in line with the spirit and the values of Mirage.
Andrea Balzano with the project “Kintsugi”
The project deservs a special mention because of the feasibility to produce and the commerciability on some Mirage’s markets.
Filippo Bombace with the project “Line collection”
Special mention for the original integration and valorization of the “joint”, which becomes a decorative element and is no longer a disturb element.
Ilaria Gambuti with the project “Sh-Ic Tissue Inspiration”
The Jury appreciated the original interpretation of materials, graphics and colors.
Anna Miniussi with the project “Fogli”.
The commission considered the project worthy of mention because of the elegance and the particular interpretation of the material.
These results mark the end of the project phase of the contest. The awarded projects and their designers will be presented at the Mirage Project Points in Milan, Marsala Street 7, located in the middle of the Brera Design District, during the week of the Salone del Mobile, from April 8th till April 13th. You are all invited to come and meet us in our home in Milan to see the projects.
To conclude, the commission and we of Mirage want to congratulate all the designers. Special compliments, of course, to the 8 projects awarded. For the all the others… let’s meet again in the next edition of RESTILE!
